Stone maidens in the Eselsburg valley
Written By Jürgen Blösl
The stone maidens are not so tall rocks in the Eselsburg Valley near Herbrechtingen (GPS: 48° 36' 30.4" N, 10° 10' 42.0" E). The rocks in the area are popular with climbers. In fine weather, especially at weekends, the valley is also a popular destination for local excursion.
The stone maidens are also a worthwhile stopover on the way from/to the south if you are using the A7. The highway exit Giengen/Herbrechtingen is less than 5 minutes away from the hiking parking lot. From there it is a 20-minute walk to the rocks.
These are more of a bad weather motif. I made sure it was a rainy day to go there. Sunrises and sunsets don't really help here. The orientation of the rocks is not fitting.
