The 7 wayside chapels in northern Bavarian Swabia

7 wayside chapels - chapel by Staab - Bissingen - Germany

Bavaria really has no shortage of churches and chapels. Often dating from the Baroque period and accordingly splendid, almost every village has its own.

Nevertheless, the foundation set up by timber entrepreneur Siegfried Denzel and his wife Elfriede has decided to build seven new chapels [] along cycle paths in northern Bavarian Swabia. Most of them are made of wood and are rather simple and modern.

Theoretically, all the chapels can be visited in one day. However, you should start early, as not all chapels are accessible by car. They are usually 1-2 km away from the parking lot. The directions to most chapels are well signposted.
As they are located on cycle paths, you can cycle directly to the chapels. However, the approx. 150 kilometers are rather ambitious for a day trip.
