Light Nights Augsburg
It is not only large cities such as Berlin [↗] and Amsterdam [↗] that have recognized that a light festival can be an attractive event to organize at a probably reasonable cost. Augsburg has been hosting Light Nights [↗] since 2019.
Various buildings in the city center are illuminated, but the focus is on the Rathausplatz (town hall square). Here, the actual animation show is projected onto the town hall. The Perlachturm tower, which is currently covered in scaffolding, and the Eckerle House are also illuminated.
This year, a keyboard was set up on Martin Luther Square and the projection reacts to the keystrokes. If you just hit the keys, there is a corresponding comment 😉.
The second focus is on Königsplatz. While the McDonald's there is illuminated with a fixed projection, there is a second animation show on the Königsbau building on the opposite side.
The exact date for 2026 has not yet been released, but it will probably be in October again. In any case, it can't hurt to make a note in your calendar.
