Street art in Singapore

Vintage Camera Museum - Singapore

When you think of street art, Singapore might not be high on your list. But there are quite some places where you can find murals and different kinds of installations. In the Arab quarter, as well as in and around Chinatown, there is a lot to see. You won't find stupid tags though - no wonder in a country where even chewing gum is banned.

The most famous place for murals in Singapore is Haji Lane in the Arab Quarter. But there are also some in the nearby streets. The cover photo is at the Vintage Camera Museum, which is maybe 5 minutes away.

In Chinatown you need to look at the smaller streets, the bigger ones like Smith Street are just filled with shops and restaurants. But if you look around you'll find really nice paintings.

Don't just stay in the touristy part of Chinatown, but also head towards downtown. There is more to discover here:

You will find something special on the walls of a sidewalk near Club Street. At first glance they are paintings, but in reality the texts and graphics are made of metal rods.

I'm sure there are other interesting places too. If you know any, let me know in the comments.
