A short visit to Sydney

Opera House - Sydney - Australia

End of July I had the opportunity to spend a free weekend in Sydney. Although I was struggling with a cold, I couldn't resist spending some time exploring the city center.
I had a hotel close to Circular Quay what gave me the chance to take pictures of the opera house as well in the morning as at dusk.

From my hotel, I walked up George Street mainly to see the two shopping malls Strand Arcade [] and Queen Victoria Building []. Both buildings have been finished in the 1890s and had been shopping malls right from the beginning. Even after being renovated a couple of times the style has never changed. Both are great photo options.

Of course, there are more motifs if you walk the streets with open eyes:

I also spend a morning at the Sea Life Aquarium at Darling Harbour [], but I wasn't too impressed. It's quite nice if you have kids or if you have never been close to a shark or manta ray, but otherwise, it's not worth the money. I even bought a special lens hood with me to block out the reflections, but in the end, I didn't get a single keeper.

There are other things to do in Sydney - like a ferry cruise to Manly, just to name one. But as said in the beginning, I caught a cold and as I had a full week of meetings to come, I stayed quite some time in the warm hotel room.
